The Surety Information Office (SIO) welcomes new and returning local surety association officers and members to the LSA Communiqué. This newsletter is designed to help local surety associations (LSAs) promote contract surety bonds and make the most of your LSA. In future issues you will find articles on best practices of LSAs, program development, marketing and public relations, building and retaining membership, administrative issues such as bylaws and committees, and how to use SIO’s products and resources. Before you head out to promote
contract surety bonds—whether it’s a speaking engagement, a trade show
exhibit, or a meeting with clients—be sure to order SIO materials. SIO has refreshed several brochures:
A new
brochure, “Helping Contractors Grow: Surety Bonding for New &
Emerging Contractors,” provides information about bonding assistance and
support programs, bond guarantee programs, and mentor-protégé programs. These brochures are free through SIO’s online store or contact Marla McIntyre, Executive Director, or Marc Ramsey, Communications Manager, at (202) 686-7463.
Heads up! SIO is updating the Local Surety Association Directory. Please update your officer listing as soon as possible. Maintaining current contact information enables SIO to help LSAs promote contract surety bonds. The LSA Directory also is accessed by visitors to SIO’s Web site who need a bond, a surety professional for speaking engagements, insights into local trends, or answers to specific surety questions. Watch for a friendly e-mail reminder and phone call in the coming weeks.
The deadline to submit nominations for SIO’s Silver and Gold Awards for Excellence in Surety Bond Promotion is February 10, 2006. SIO’s awards are a great opportunity to receive recognition for all of your hard work to promote contract surety bonds in 2005. Visit SIO’s Web site to learn more about the criteria for these awards, as well as the Platinum Award for Excellence in Surety Bond Promotion and Tiger Trust, or to apply online today.
