Share Accomplishments, Enter Awards and Tiger Trust Thanks to local surety associations, private project owners and lenders are recognizing the protections that surety bonds provide on their construction projects. Subcontractors and suppliers are shielded from nonpayment. Legislative and public offices are more informed about the negative aspects of bond waivers, increased bond thresholds, and subcontractor default insurance.
The deadline is February 8, 2008, to submit nominations for the Awards for Excellence in Surety Bond Promotion and Tiger Trust for promotional activities conducted in 2007.
SIO Launches Online LSA Handbook To provide LSAs with a central source of information related to development, stewardship, and expansion of their associations, SIO and SFAA have developed an online LSA Handbook. This Handbook is intended to help the LSA leadership as officers plan and implement programs for their members. It is not meant to provide legal advice on any issue, and each LSA should consult counsel on matters such as incorporation, tax status, antitrust issues, etc. Designed to view online or download as a Microsoft Word document, the Handbook contains: • History SIO will update the Handbook regularly.
