NYC Surety Association Succeeds in Warranty Issues Battery Park City has reduced its maintenance guarantee provision from five years to one, and Suffolk Community College has reduced its long-term warranty from five years to two, thanks to a letter-writing and telephone campaign by the New York City Surety Association, according to LSA President Joe Cieri, Contract Manager, Safeco Surety. The LSA has e-mailed owners directly on onerous bond and/or contract provisions for about two years. Cieri says the association has successfully helped decrease risk exposure to the surety industry and its clients in more than 25 instances.
