JACK KEHL, AFSB, RECOGNIZED FOR EXCELLENCE


APRIL 18, 2003, WASHINGTON, DC – Jack E. Kehl, AFSB, Surety Producer, Berwanger Overmeyer Associates, is recognized as an industry leader in the promotion of surety bonds by receiving the Platinum Award for Excellence in Surety Bond Promotion for his dgedication to promoting surety bonds through education and outreach. The Platinum Award is presented annually by the Surety Information Office (SIO), the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP), and The Surety Association of America (SAA) to individual members of NASBP and SAA who actively promote the benefits of surety bonds.

Kehl has been extremely active promoting contract surety bonds in 2002 through educational initiatives, presentations, and article authorship. He participated as a panel member and moderator at the Ohio Contractors Association’s “Insurance & Bonding Roundtable,” and gave a presentation to the same group titled, "Bonding 2002: Have the Rules Been Changed?" 

Kehl also reached out to students by promoting the construction and surety industries to 5th grade teachers of Newark City Schools and participated in the Columbus Chapter of Ohio Contractors Association’s “Contractor for a Day” program. Additionally, he took time to explain surety bonds to high school students at the Tri-State Construction Career Days. Besides his educational outreach efforts, Kehl also wrote a number of articles, which have appeared in the Central Ohio AGC Hard Hat newsletter and ENR. 

Kehl holds an Associate in Fidelity and Surety Bonding (ASFB) and is an active member of the Ohio Surety Association.

The Platinum Award for Excellence in Surety Bond Promotion was presented April 16, 2003 at the NASBP Annual Meeting in Palm Springs, CA and also will be presented at the SAA Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL on May 15, 2003.

Surety bonding is a careful, rigorous, and professional process in which surety companies and surety bond producers prequalify contractors to assure project owners that these contractors are capable of performing the contract and paying certain laborers, subcontractors, and suppliers.

SIO was formed in 1993 to disseminate information about the benefits of contract surety bonding in private and public construction. Located in Washington, DC, SIO is supported by the National Association of Surety Bond Producers (NASBP) [surety agents and brokers] and The Surety Association of America (SAA) [surety companies]. Surety bonding is a careful, rigorous, and professional process in which surety companies prequalify contractors and then assure project owners that these contractors are capable of performing the contract and will pay certain subcontractors and suppliers associated with the project.
